Thread: Spots for first Multi Day Hunting Trip

So after having a few unsucusseful day trips of clement road I have decided, and now have the gear to get out and do a multi day trip and get to know the place a bit better.

Will be a 4 day trip week after next (weather permitting.)

I was thinking I would head Oamaru, and hunt Rouiti, fly camping up the kaipo a ways from the hut. This be a good spot to spend some time as somone who is new to chasing deer but reasonably capable in the bush?
Seems like cool country but I can't help wonder if chasing Sika isn't a bit optimistic for an amature.

I used to hunt (carry gear) Rangatiki/whirinaki as a grasshopper. There decent numbers in there at all these days? Reds right?

Any advice and/or suggestions for spots will be greatly appreciated.
ALso If anyone wants to come for a hunt, they are of cousre welcome.
