    no ear marks for a start - not shorn - not in a paddock - dont stick around for a second glance - general unkept look- a lot like some of the dead beats ya see downtown Auckland midnight (just joking)

    In this case if my informant is correct: a several hours walk into DOC lands away from nearest station, older animals apparently looking decidedly shrek like (the sheep not the ogre) from not being shorn and have been seen in this area for several years. Will still be trying to check carefully for any ear tags or notches and seeing what the breeding stock looks like before deciding to take any.
