First Stag for 2023…
Hopefully not a sign of things to come this roar
Without doubt the ugliest stag I’ve shot. I put a stalk on 6 deer last night in fading light. Closed the gap from 550 to 200yds. Got myself set up. I could only see the body side on at 200 yds. The head was obscured by tussock. I didn’t have the luxury of time on my side. The disappointment!! LOL not really. Carried out all the meat plus the head for the shed wall.
Well its meat for the freezer, practice shot for your next big stag.
@Trout yep fat as butter.Bit sore this am
Love the look on your Labs face @Nathan F it's like he's saying "Well you've done it now!!" and ya make me pose for this

First and last stag for me for a while owing to being a very new dad. I’d written off hunting for at least four or five months in my head but when a mate asked if I wanted to go for a walk with him the mrs told me to go for it.
A bizarre looking animal but easily the biggest bodied animal i’ve shot. He came in to a roar, covered a lot of distance to have a look but never roared back.
