    Stripping velvet

    I shot a stag on Saturday and his Antlers are hard, so wanting pro tips if there is any! On stripping the velvet off to get the best job.

    Do it the day you shoot him before the velvet starts drying out.
    Your one is not fully hard ( the brows are not totally pointed ) so be careful with the tops they will be a bit soft.
    wetting it will soften velvet that is drying on

    Potassium permanganate works awesome for staining antlers, just don't get it on anything else it'll never come out.

    mint bro, looks good! just walk aroun the park with them for a few hours and brush them against all the pretty trees and thrash a few bushes, should stain up real mint

    As said, this works well, just make the coats to as dark as you want.

    Came out good alright. Personally I'd leave it and just bleach the skull white and seal with 50/50 mix of PVC glue and water.
