The circumstances might have been a surprise to you Matt but Im not surprised that you got it.
Just a matter of when not if you would get something decent with the time, effort and practice you put into your hunting.

Makes it a lot easier to forget those two good stags we let go last month to grow even bigger for next year !
    Matt2308 and 223nut like this.

You forgotten where they are Petree ???

Hunt the Northern end of ferny ridge, there are lots and lots of Sika there

Explore it, theres some stunning clearings around the creeks, easy to get a meat animal there, most shots under 350 yrds.

    Nice one.

Regarding talks of the Deer / gun shots close by etc.

on a recent high country Sambar backpack, I took a shot ata stag at 350m with my 708, at the shot the Stag bucked/jumped forward an moved down an away approx. 50m an stood in some cover, I observed the deer shaking hes head an shaking his rump with tail up.... Now my remarks were " hes hit, he'l buckle soon"

You were pretty bloody right in sayin I was Amazed too, only 5 minutes later resume Feeding and thrashing antlers (just stripping velvet- priorities)

I waited for a somewhat clear shot an sent another, this time a solid Crack, echoed back over the gulley..

What an unreal experience, an unlucky second Chance for the Deer not taking its first hot tip..

    good bush head btw
