Did they start the numbering at 1 though? I wouldn't be surprised if they started at 1000.

    If Doc would stop

I wont be f@#ked with the blocks when there is 1500 applicants.
Waste of money. Happy to hunt other areas.

well exactly! I'm a student pilot for a living in auckland but Just for the right to fly in(more specifically land) is abit of a money scheme.

I know certain groups that can afford and submit hundreds of applications.

There are not that many blocks with less than 10 blocks that I would personally bother with.
    Not good odds.

$60 doesn't get you a steak dinner these days mate and the money is put towards managing the resource. DOC could always just go in there in march and bomb them all up but they are giving recreational hunters an opportunity to bag a decent bull and some meat in an area that they aggressively manage with aerial culling anyhow.

Well they already have 93k to put towards helicopter time now.

Doc do not manage shit when it comes to introduced species no matter how long they have been here. Apart from culling them. That's their management style.

They have been approached by numerous parties on improving the ballot.
    Only price has gone up.

They couldn't give a rats ass who is in the back country as long as they get some coin.

Have to agree with R93, when I was working in Pest Control I worked with DOC staff from time to time and the staff I dealt with were mostly taught to treat all introduced animals as pests and need to be removed from the back country. Not all are like that but many are, unfortunately. They mostly want to see our bush a thick jungle you can't get through, me I prefer it open and to see and hear deer not just birds.

Draw is today, good luck everyone. They say they will let everyone know successful or not by 14 December but that's usually via snail mail, usually get an email straight away if you have been successful.
