Thread: Tahr hunt 9 - 15th June

I've been lucky enough to win a ballot block for the 9th - 15th June in the Alps.
The friend I was meant to be going with has been offered a spot with another mate to fly in next week, which he is doing as the weather is looking good and he doesn't want to miss out.
So at this stage there is the option for one, maybe 3 more to come, I have been to this block before and the flat ground for camping isn't massive, but plenty of room for one man tents or hammocks.
At this stage I'm flying to Christchurch on the morning of the 9th, was hoping to fly in that afternoon but may have to bus to the coast now so could be the morning of the 10th, unless someones keen and could meet me at the airport?
Chopper should be roughly $1000 split for 2 of us in and out.
Sounds pretty snowy down there so you would probably need some good gear, axe and crampons etc, but in saying that the camp sites right by the river so hopefully the animals may be down lower if its real crap! Dechen creek block..

I don't think he did. I saw him in his work vehicle today back in the naki.

James told us as we were flying out that one of the guys at Hinds Tarn flew out only to go straight back in to Barker Creek. Now thats a Good Keen Man.
