    Tahr Reporting App out now

    Hopefully it counts towards controls.

Also a good listen for a few people. It raised a few points some people used to the current and previous tahr hunting climate might not have thought about.

Great it's finally out. Hopefully the numbers are taken into account by DoC.

If not atleast the GAC will have access also. But I think they will use it to see if a reporting system works.

What specifically will this data be used for? I feel like if I were tasked with wiping Tahr out, this data would do the survey and location work for me. You would pick up on areas with frequent kills, sightings and age/sex data, map it over time, and target them later with heli culls, or corroborate your data, or combine to create density and spread maps.

That's me being cynical though, we live in an age of data aggregation and analysis, I tend to try to avoid actively contributing to it if I can... though I suppose there are times where there can be benefits.

DOC already know where the tahr are. Use the app so that the value of rec hunters contributing to management can be quantified and realised.

I don't get how people think doc don't know where the tahr are. They can find them way better than us with a quick helicopter survey. The app is also a test if it can work as part of a "management plan".
