    Taranaki deer?

    Hey team, I’m off to the stunning Hawera for a couple of months and was wondering if there is anywhere nearby to shoot deer?
    Not necessarily asking for any of your favourite spots but just somewhere to start?

    there are plenty of fallow and goats all over that part of country,more than a few reds and pigs too..... contact local DOC office and go from there.

    I’ve seen plenty of fallow and goats up the waitotara, as well as sambar and pig sign.
    More meplat, more better.

    Yes, contact DOC as places like the Waitotara have good numbers of goats and fallow - just access can be a little vague so DOC should help you on that.
