Yeah pretty busy up Whaka with quads too.
Mate I would be keen as to come for a walk over your side one day.

Need for it to turn cold again IMO before they start...can't get them going as too many spotlights working the private, DoC & forestry at night...like "Christmas in the Park" last weekend with the lights. Once it turns really cold the spotlighters tend to give up but by then the deer have been chased almost to down town Tauranga. I am taking a horse trekking group over the track on Saturday...I hope the trigger happy clowns are at home, deep in the bush or else where on the day.
Which is worse, ignorance or apathy...I don't know and don't care.
Cheers mate. Good to know whats happening over yonder.

Have been watching the spots can sometimes just see them from home. Reason #1 that have not been up not looking to get shot at
Plenty of shots at night around the Huranui Hut / Basin area I hear too
This thread is starting to freak me out a little, not to mention my misses.
Oh well, will be up there next weekend for a look in a spot i know. Fingers crossed theres not meat heads around.
We did the horse trekkie thing yesterday...there is a lot of deer sign on the track, ranging from fawns, medium size deer and up to some of the biggest hoof prints I have ever seen. Plenty of foot traffic [human] on the Bay side lower down but very little from the last 4 kms to the summit. Seen no hunters and heard no gun shots all day and only the remains of one kill [hind]...only foot traffic was a lone "tramper" on the Bay side who absolutely reeked of fresh NZ Green...I guess he was getting his crop out before the rain forecast for this week coming.

Hey Spook you close to where we leave the truck at the bottom on the Te Aroha side?? might have to come and say gidday at some stage
DONT BE A FOOL INDENTIFY YOUR TARGET BEFORE YOU PULL
Yep...I live up where they are logging now
Which is worse, ignorance or apathy...I don't know and don't care.
Might head up that direction next week again
