    I wasn't hunting but had a look on the tops in the evening for no result. Put one up on the river flats and all the sign seemed to be from the river to a third of the way up.

    The bottom picture is of the "shoes" I wore from the Waipakahi out over the Urchin to the car park. They are usually my camp shoes but decided to try them on the walk out as it was so hot.
    They weigh 188 grams each and were fine for walking on the tracks, even the steep stuff, but useless for sidling. I was carrying a 14kg pack.
    Nice spot up there.
    What brand of shoes are they as they look good for camp shoes

    Inov8 Recolite 190.
    Got them off Torpedo 7 a couple of years ago for $70. They are great hut shoes. Supposed to be trail running shoes but good luck with that. I got them mostly for their light weight.
    Experience. What you get just after you needed it.

    No. Did the walk with my wife. Came out yesterday.

    Its excellent hunting up there , just sit and watch the bush edges where they feed onto the tops . We do very well up there
