    ticks

My mate shot a pig yesterday when we were on a trip. I brought home the legs still with skin on. When I took them out of the meat bag, they were crawling with ticks. The wife took one look and said "put them in the bin, we're not eating that"

So why do they have the ticks as I've not seen it before, and is it bad?

    What do you do?

Thats why they wallow and rub on trees, you don't notice at the kill because they are at the skin of the pig but after a while they come off because there is no blood circulating for them to feed.
    No issues with the meat.
    Skin or singe and cook.

Pig lice. Part and parcel , I knock them off in the shower, they always end up on my head after a couple of hours , get someone else to carry first they cop most of the lice and blood

Lice are part of the deal. They end up in my hair after a carry but don't like human blood. They fall out after a few hours. They don't affect the meat. Hope you threw them in the fridge/freezer until you found out what the story was.

I wouldn't eat a wild pig that didn't have lice!. If it's sick enough for the lice to leave..........................

    Most Likely.

Either that or the first part of the carry is the steepest and/or hardest

    Cheers
