    Transporting meat between islands

    Morning guys,

Hope you're having a half decent lockdown.
I was wondering if anyone has transported large quantities of meat from the South to the North island and how you went about it. I'm looking at potential options for shipping veni from the likes of Queenstown to Wellington and have looked at air transport but it sure does get up there. Any other options that you've tried and that works?

    Cheers
    Daniel

wait untill lockdowns are over n done with...then look at freight truck options for chilly bins...the crayfish truck out of fiordland runs to CHCH ??? DAILY??? thats half trip sorted and loads of freight from there...Sandfords or Talleys could well be worth contacting too as have chilled trucks running up n down all the time as do Halls.

+1 for the icey Tek.ines a big 115l with 2 compartments, I filled mine with snow (as it was on the deck at the time) put the back half of a fallow in it. 2 days later 14 pairs of goat legs and backsteaks. Brought home and put meat in the freezer, transfered all the snow and a couple of bags of ice I brought into 1 side of it, kept draining the water out and it's lasted just over 3weeks

I just freeze the venison, then pack in a poly box that I get from the deli at new world, tape it up good, keep in freezer at courier depot (local gas station), and onto overnight courier from Alex to Tauranga. Has worked well for last couple of years.
    Ya can't park there mate.

Not vast quantities but i usually fill a carry on full when I go hunting down south. Vac seal it all after a night in fridge/freezer, then wrap all packages in newspaper individually then get slikka pads and wrap entire package in more paper. Have never had any issues

Depending on how you define “large” quantities halls transport have refrigerated trucks as do big chill they would be best option for what i would call large quantities
