seeing I have been rained off yet again I am seriously thinking about heading in there either tomorrow or friday 9more than likely friday) as I can't see us being called back into work for the rest of the week as the whole site is too wet to work

Oh I know all about knee problems @Chris I did the te iringa track a few years back on my first deer hunt with a blown ACL and a fractured knee had it all strapped up during the hunt and then paid for it with the pain for a few days afterwards. Hope your knee comes right. I will be going to Army road fairly easy contour going by the topo maps online

The old guy that lives down there in his camper(Ken) always tells me how that area is crawling with deer.
Did I tell you about that wee gully I found ,might be able to pop in there if wind is favorable.

Won't be going this weekend now have to leave it for next weekend due to copping a small dose of the flu (caught in rain yesterday while shifting a roller for the boss after he called me in to work) and working tomorrow to catch up a few hours for next weeks pay day. So if anyone wants to tag along still more than welcome.

Noticed a camp site on the right hand site about half way to the end of the rd, two weekends ago saw a few campers there so as we were suffering from watching the AB game the night before thought we would have an easy explore. We parked the car and started off up the ridge, which we found was marked with pink tape to the top and over the other side a couple of kms in. We didn't spot any thing on the way in and so we cut off the ridge and sidled around the various gullies heading back for the road. There was a small amount of sign but not nearly as much as we had seen on our last trip.
About 500m from Clements rd on the way back I heard a twig break and signaled my mate to stop. I spotted what I thought was a resting deer, grey shape 50m down but dismissed it as being too obvious especially as we wern't being particularly quite, it was stationary and looked a bit like a log as well.
I continued down the hill and next thing the log jumped up and shot away, a mature Sika stag , backed up by some clumped droppings and a couple of nicely worn trees where he had been scraping his antlers a couple of weeks ago.
Its still worth a look as there are a few deer roaming around. We will go back to a different spot in a couple of weeks time, this spot must be well used judging by the worn track and various tapes hung on the tree branches.
Im coming to give you a slap if you dont![]()
