Was a few years back, a trip I mainly remember for a mate forgetting his bolt..... Abut an hours slow walk up the hill back towards the farmland (out the hut door cross the little creek and head left), you arrive at a plateau with a lot of big windfall. Lots of the sneaky little buggers in amongst that. The trick is seeing them before they see you - which I didn't manage. The plateau drops away steeply and gives a view out over the farmland.
Deer will very much be in winter mode in September. I've been there in October and it was hard going. The snow might have had something to do with it. Good hut and fairly well insulated. Plenty of options up and down valley.
