Brings back a few memories, use to hunt round there a lot back in the early 90's.
There will be a lot of snow damage after the latest big fall exotic & indigenous forrests
I nipped up there last weekend, just that one bit of damage, pretty good considering.
Good thing, still a fair bit. Some deep, I fell into my waist in 2 spots
From the weekend after that massive snow dump.
Walked over the Urchin and into Waipakihi on Thursday night.
Any one of you 3 have any luck? You're damn keen looking for a sika in the snow
Wayyyyy too early. Zero sign. More of a stretch the legs day instead of a hunt.
I found the place to be already cold enough for me during the roar season in the past, I can't imagine how cold the nights would be at this time of year! Good on you guys.
Always wanted to do this track . What ya looking at to the bush line 1.5hrs? I might have a look next week if work allows. cheers
I'm pretty unfit and it took me 1h20 to the top when I last did it. only a few mins from bush line to trig
