That's definitely an upside for having an inreach type device. As long as you start the tracking function and share the link with someone at home. Then at least they can forward on the tracking link if needed.

When I drive, I have a share location function on my phone so my wife can keep an eye on my movement. If it stops for too long she will text (as I sometimes stop for a nap or stretch my legs etc) Usually if I am stoppng for more than a few minutes, I will text her anyway as I dont check my phone while driving...
Obviously this only works where you get reception, but even if it is patchy, it will give you a last known location that may help...
Intelligence has its limits, but it appears that Stupidity knows no bounds......
