Great read, Matt, there's nothing like that first one. I still remember the adrenaline, it was easily more intense than when I went skydiving. Easy.
Just a tip with the meat, avoid putting water on it. Water is full of bacteria, as odd as that seems. your meat will keep longer if you don't get it wet. It won't be an issue this time as you've got it in the fridge quickly, but next time youre out for a week and you shoot one on the first day, keep it dry. Use a bit of grass to clean it, that's a good alternative.
