    Went okay today, spent a lot of time in some really nice open bush but as expected thats not where they were holding up. Will be a few more recces until I suss out where theyre hiding

    There tricky aye at this time of year in there, tucked up in the thick stuff. Much sign about apart from the foot prints from tourists?

    Plenty of tourists up there this arvo ! And still plenty of car's in car park when I left. which way did you head when you got to top phil ?

    What time were you there mate? You would've seen me if we crossed paths, I was in blaze, came back through around 6. I stalked my way south towards te tuhi.

    Out by 5.30, Just up there for exercise, Haven't hunted up there yet, Have walked through from Te Tuhi on North/South track one other time. One day I may take rifle though.

    If you stay towards the edge instead of venturing into the flats you'l have more luck. The deer seem to love that steep crap.

    ever tried around the Mangamuka hut area ? Halfway tween the Te tuhi track and the Doc access track on Barton road. The actual hut is far away enough from any tracks that you will need some reasonable nav skils to get to it.

    Nah but I've heard its pretty good in there. If I do an overnighter, thats where i'd stay.

    Two tracks into the hut now sign posted off the TeTuhi and Nth South Track
