Question Wanted to go for first hunt - Wellington up to wanganui

    Hey all,

I am eagerly keen to get out for my first hunt. Have all my basics, Clothing, boots, Rifle, etc.
Have shot heaps at ranges etc but never hunted anything and would love to get my first deer/goat/pig etc.
I have a 80 series landcruiser, so can get along most tracks etc that require 4wd.
Am happy to travel between wellington and wanganui.
We have 4 kids, so needing the extra food in the freezer

I also have a boat, and I dive. so I am happy to return the favor on taking you diving/fishing etc.

Please let me know if anyone who knows what they are doing is interested in taking a noob under their wing.

( After reading a few posts already of newbs getting out, I am happy to say i am pretty darn fit. )

    Cheers
    Lars

Hay Lars. Im just getting back into it. Dont mind taking out new people as long as they are keen and willing to take stuff on board. Must be safe in all respects.. Let me know if you are still looking for company.

Grab the spot x book and hit the hills mate, plenty of deer around, work out where you want to hunt (bush or open country) and get into it, concentrate on one area, learn it and know it. If after 6-9 months and having done at least a dozen trips your family still wonders why you go walking with a gun I will be more than happy to help you, but you have to put the yards in first, failing that I can leave a backsteak in the mailbox to pick up on way home!!

    Thats encouraging for keen guys..........NOT.
I remember what it was like when I first started. Shit scared and green as. Sure the only way to learn is to buggar it up. But some guidance goes a long way to a happy and SAFE hunting life.

Thanks northdude, nice to know you know me, my experience and knowledge. Good to see you think that I would be unable to guide a new hunter to do things right. After all. 35 years hunting, reloading, shooting is worth nothing to you. Stupid coments like this is the exact reason all the old tricks are no longer passed on. Experienced hunters dont talk the crap. They live to hunt, hunt to live, and talk to teach. Not talk to mock and impress other stupid people.
