Toilet paper has scratchy stuff in it which scratches you lenses. Tissues also do to a lesser extent. Opticians give you a microfiber cloth to wipe your glasses with and you need to wash them regularly to remove grit and grease.

5mins on Google tells me tissues work well to soak up water drops but rubbing with tissues will scratch overtime.

Why? Im not the one making unsupported claims that tissue paper contains fibres? that scratch glass. The grit and shit on your lense is what does that so over time (still no length given) you will scratch them with whatever you wipe them with.

I've heard that professional photographers use toilet paper to clean their $40,000.00 lenses. I mean...why not? Professionals are always budget conscious, and if cheap toilet paper is effective at cleaning lenses, without doing any damage, and at a significantly lower price than microfibre cleaning cloths...it's a no brainer!! Right? Right? Riiiiight?

Maybe because the companies making the lenses do not make and sell tissues? They do however make fancy cloths for the lenses for a lot more cost to you.
