What is the NZ hunting uniform?

Noticing that many hunters in certain countries tend to dress in similar fashion (like a uniform code). In Germany there is the green Barbour oilskin coat, the Trachtenhut (hunting hat), green rubber boots; the Scots seem to love their tweed jackets and deer stalkers; and the Americans love their camouflage - even going so far as the underwear or ass paint.

Would you say there is a hunting "uniform" in NZ? (I understand that not all or even most fit the uniform code.).

    Curiously,
    Scotty

Used to be a swandri and lace up bullers or red band gumboots.😆

Dunno if there is one now. I just wear whatever is comfortable for the conditions.

Hi Scotty. In my view there isn't a uniform as such over here. You see hunters I all sorts of clothing from rugby shorts and black singlets all the way through to camo clothing. Many wear shorts with long joins underneath. We hunt all year round so a lot also depends on the climate at the time as heading out for a hunt with the wrong kit could cost a life if a hunter fell foul of the weather.

What more do we need? If we are above ground and breathing the rest is up to us!
Rule 1: Treat every firearm as loaded
Rule 2: Always point firearms in a safe direction
Rule 3: Load a firearm only when ready to fire
Rule 4: Identify your target beyond all doubt
Rule 5: Check your firing zone
Rule 6: Store firearms and ammunition safely
Rule 7: Avoid alcohol and drugs when handling firearms

From an outsiders view it is longjohns shorts and gatters or shorts and gatters, often with a rain proof jacket

Yay.....laceups, the swanny, the saddle-tweeds trous for the really cold days, the woollen long johns and a black bush singlet ....the bush singlet was compulsory attire for any campfire, visiting, swimming, getting rid of sweat outta the eyes, wiping ya nose, ya chin and most other bits (except you're arse...!!)
