    Model 700 BDL is a nice rifle, I have one although I have changed the stock to what I believe is a rem 700 xcr. I'd recommend that as well, nice gun.

    I have never shot a 770 but the Model 7 (particularly) or 700 are great rifles ... almost legendary. Don't forget to tell him to invest in his scope as well ... whatever he spends on his rifle, he should spend on his optics and a decent neoprene sling like the Niggeloh GmbH brand.
