Hmm.

I like a larger pack. No stress trying to squeeze everything in and turn you also have heaps of room for meat. Once you synch them down they are no bigger then a smaller capacity one anyway, just with more room to play with if you need it. The logic of buying a smaller pack to make you take less is just poor discipline imo.

I run a Tatonka Bison 75+10 for multi days.

Outstanding pack harness system. Just be wary of squeaky harness as they do that which can be rectified by sending it to the distributor.

Aside from that their a fantastic pack that bears weight really well, super customizable and has heaps of room.

I'm going from a 3600 cubic inch pack to a 6900 just because you have room you don't need to use it.
Look at it this way you have a 4 bedroom house doesn't mean you have to have 4 kids.

Probably needs to include lightweight tent for those times you want/need one. I figure you can always carry less in a big bag, but you can't carry more in a small one.

You wont go wrong with a Osprey 85lt , bloody good packs. I've got a 70lt one and my brother has a 85lt one but there's virtually no difference in weight between the two, so if you've got meat to pack out the 85lt one is better option. Very expensive though compared to other brands if not on sale.

Something else worth mentioning. Not all manufactures measure the pack volume in the same way. One brands 75 liter is not necessrily the same size as anothers.

They are still a bargain compared to the $ for the SG, Kuiu etc and have a lifetime no questions/ conditions warranty so I think it's still money well spent.

Spika Driver for me, tough material, meat carrying tray, good harness and fits my shirt back. Tried Osprey hated the million pockets and the Spika frame can be used without the pack or swap the big pack to the small pack using the same frame, something that Tatonka have just copied with their new pack as shown on TV. If your short the Tatonkas don't fit at all well

I have a number of packs ranging from a Kuiu (115litres) to a Tatonka 55+10.
The beauty of the bigger pack is you don’t have to strap stuff to the outside when you carry meat inside the pack.
Of course when you have a bigger pack, you carry more. But you can carry a big and a small load in a big pack, however you can only carry a small load in a small pack.
I really like the way modern packs can be strapped up tight and used for day hunts.
If I had to have one pack I think I’d go for 70 litres, that’s the sweet spot for me. I like to put my tent inside my pack, just incase I have to push through some leatherwood or other tight shit.

@craigc how do you rate the 55+10. I run a Cactus Huntaway and a bison 90l but thinking of getting something in the middle.

Cactus is good but be careful shouldering your rifle with the alloy clips on the side

I like the 55+10, as you know the bisons are very robust packs, albeit a bit heavy. I also have the 48l Norrix I used exclusively as a day pack.

I purchased the 55l +10 specifically as a one/two nighter. I use the big Kuiu pack for longer trips where more gear is required, especially a tent.

I also use a bigger pack in the winter when I require a tent rather than a fly and more warm cloths and even over trousers etc.

In summary the 55l +10 would be good for you for shorter trips.

Truth be told, if I counted them all up, I probably have over 12 packs!

Stone Glacier Evo 3300. Load shelf is a game changer for carrying out meat.
