Rifle, Ammo, bore cleaner, fly tent (optional/ weather dependent), Billy, knife & fork, water container, lighter, Sleeping bag (optional), first aid, Emergency blanket and food rations.
This gear i would consider essential, if the bank allows i would look at getting a Epurb and GPS.
    Hope this helps

The gear you take in for 2 nights is the same as a trip for 1 night or 5 nights. Only variable is the amount of food. Bearing this in mind, if you overload your pack for the walk in with junk, you will find it pretty fuking heavy or no room on the way out for any meat you have shot.

To minimize the amount of clothing required, by a sleeping bag liner to keep the inside of your bag clean as you will hunt, eat, and sleep in the same clothes.
Or if you are going to have a camp fire, have a set of camp clothes and a set of hunting clothes

A stick mag and lots of bog roll is essential. Also think about a rifle (calibre irrelevant), bolt, 10 rounds of ammo, a good knife, torch, a scratcher, a bit of grub, a drink bottle, binos, a poofter pad, a tent or bivvy bag, something to put your meat in (pillow case) etc.

And the most essential of all that.....................bog roll! Believe me.

OH I GET IT NOW! You have asthma. I want to get away from the Mrs, kids and get some meat for the freezer...why would I take "those" mags with me? Clearly remember a tale about the hut in Otapua having mags left from the 1970s. Where hairy was the "in" thing.

I can assure you that "hairy" is still "in"
Which is worse, ignorance or apathy...I don't know and don't care.

What more do we need? If we are above ground and breathing the rest is up to us!

Rule 3: Load a firearm only when ready to fire
Rule 4: Identify your target beyond all doubt
Rule 5: Check your firing zone
Rule 6: Store firearms and ammunition safely

Ha, ha. My sister always threatened to hook me up with a female Bulgarian wrestler. Figured would need someone strong to get me to tow the line.

A couple of candle stubs never go amiss. Light and versatile.

Clothes, food etc...I am a novice but am keen and have a very understanding girlfriend who has allowed a nice budget to have a bit of splash out. I have a rifle and some hunting equipment.
    Thanks in advance
    Pack
    Rifle with full magazine
    Sleeping bag
one set of dry thermals and socks kept in a dry bag with sleeping bag
    Fly
    Thermarest
    1 Billy
1/2 can of gas and stove
    Mug and spoon
    Hunting clothes and boots
    1 waterproof Jacket
    5 rounds of spare ammo
    knife
    sharpener
    string or bailing twine
    Pikau
    lighter
    Epirb
    binoculars
    Beanie and gloves
    Water bladder
Toilet bag which includes electrical tape , sunscreen, insect repellant and toothbrush and bog roll
    Lots of tea bags
    Head torch

And your food - I live on OSM's for lunch and snacks . De hy meals with fresh venison for dinner and pre package your breakfasts into zip lock bags with cereal , milk powder and protein powder so all you have to do in the morning is throw in water, shake it up and youre away.

Thats all I would take for a week If i was walking. Only variables would be more or less food and a book if the weather is shit.

I reckon anything else would be surplus.
