    Wympher hut whataroa

    Hey looking at doing a trip over queens bday into whympher hut in the whataroa was just wondering if any one had been up there lately and what animal numbers were like? Any info will be much appreciated

    In there a while ago, definately noticed damage that choppers had done, few bulls about but damn near zero nannies seen for the week we were in there, all animals were holding very high up but weather has possibly bought them down a bit now. Few Chamois playing round on the faces opposite the hut each day but again just does and young ones, might be a couple bucks sniffing round by now. Better places to go

    I spent a night in there about 3weeks ago and walked out the following day. Walked up to Whymper Glacier glassing as i went and saw only one tahr and next to no sign in the river bed. Never saw a single animal walking out the following day. Lack of sign was disappointing. It wasn't quite what I remember it being like
