@grandpamac, curious why a rimmed cartridge ? just your preference, or something to do with no 1 action ?

P.S. there is a nice 257 Roberts that has been sitting at Wilsons in Whanganui for several years... it would make an interesting heavy varmint / light deer rifle for NZ.

    Greetings ebf,
Just because I can really. We are dealing in hypothetical rifles here so practical does not come into it. I have seen just one single shot, NZ made I think, in that calibre. A .257 Roberts would be almost as good.
    Regards Grandpamac.

Yes nice calibre. I have a Ruger No1 and a Dakota M10 in .257 Roberts.

Honestly, I don't want another gun. I bought myself a gun that I didn't really "need" for a landmark birthday this year and that was a strange feeling.

    Greetings MB,
None of the rifles in this thread are actually needed in the narrower interpretation of the word but, as is often pointed out, need has little if anything to do with it.

    Greetings ebf,
Thanks for pointing that out, not. I had to have a look at Wilson's web site. 5 Ruger no 1 rifles! I don't think I have ever seen that many in the same place in NZ. After tea and a lie down I will probably recover.
    Regards Grandpamac.

It's a fun place to visit. I regularly stop in and fondle the No 1's, haha. The 257 Bob is a nice example of the full wood version.

Unfortunately they don't seem to have the Safari models in stock on a regular basis. A friend of mine up the road here has one in 375 H&H, I'd love to pry it away from him.
