If you can’t see it, you can’t shoot it.

5k doesn’t go far these days, Tikka with good glass.

Another vote for tikka and good glass

I have a few other rifles. I have "built" this one. I haven't used or even shot it. Partly because I'm scared once I do ill end up selling my more expensive to run and complex magnums

whats with the titchiness at this time of year .ev eryone full of bonhommie (in public at least )but behind closed door spats galore .enough of that .me Im100%budgetary .in fact the most expensive in my collection was gifted to me by a very good mate after i sold a couple for him due to him and kinfolk buggering off to Cairns permanently ,webbed fucking feet of not .

I enjoy all my toys .im not the greatest shot (I suspect a lot of animals have heart attacks from laughing at me ) a combo of advancing years and lack of practise-health rearing its ugly head here ,but overall i enjoy the sport .

finally as ive said many times does the animal harvested know or even bloody care what its hit with . long range shooting fine if thats your forte ,but a lot like me still subscribe to the get in close and hit em tonto theory ,or consistent delivery of possum contraceptive shots "the terminal blowjob".

anyhow all you stay safe this Xmas ,let someoen else play dicklheads ,and well see you all back in the new year.PSsawsanta witth a gunbag over his shoulder -WTFis that about.

But 5k is nothing in the current environment, Leupy VX6's used to be sub $1500 etc as MB said 10k would be far more interesting question.

I always find it entertaining when the old "how much money did you spend on that" comes up, people all have different lives, incomes & priorities ( some are just proper cunts ) but I work farken long hours, am self employed & like nice things, two scenario's came to mind when I read the title of this thread

One from a few years back, on a fly in roar trip with the friend "of a friend" ( my mate pulled out at the last minute ) this guy loved hunting, was his thing, had a great job on great money but had the shittest gear n equipment, his Ridgeline raincoat n putties were absolutely fucked used an old Ruger n scope combo, moral of that story is he came to the tops under powered, shit gears & binos = he missed a great Stag & I had to finish off two of his fucked up shots that were very gringy

Second, from yesterday funny enough. I went to get my pre Xmas hair cut from a lady who works from home & I've supported of over 10 years, I turned up in my RAM as I'd been getting a new set of rubber fitted, her husband arrived home & I got to listen to him giving me arseholes while I got my hair cut about what a flash truck I'm driving, then how he'd cooked his bosses truck doing in the vicinity of 30k plus of damage was not an issue. I responded with that, I worked all weekend attempting to get a job finished before Christmas & haven't had a day off for the last two weeks, must be great working your whole life for wages n smoko breaks aye, funny how people think, we are definitely all different
Works hard, has nice things…. Where’s the problem ?

Hope you get the job squared away prior Xmas.

Cheers mate & yeah got shit tidied up today, will however start 2024 two weeks behind schedule as didn't get everything finished, but as with anyone thats self employed = never complain about being busy

Funny someone mentioned on this thread about guys with flash harry gear that don't know how to use it being showin up by "hicks using shit" & yes this happens all the time, ran into an old guy with completely fucked eyes n cheap arse bino's on a shooting pad with Jono once, fuk he could spot Reds

But in general for me & not to sound like some pompose cock, I think back to what an early founding father of this forum said ( Crazyman aka Big Gav ) once told someone about their love for a cheap Howa, You can have it but I enjoy the feeling of carrying quality for hours on the hill ( I sponged that up abit but you get my point ) If ya love what you do for a hobby then go balls deep & enjoy

On another side note tangent lol

It's insane how dependent on gadgets we are now, range finding binos, dial scopes, ballistic phone apps etc

A "friend of the forum" recently boned all his mates out regarding this n sold all his fancy shit. I kinda see his point for basic sub 300y shooting ( & thats all he's doing ) there is a certain pleasure of going for a hunt without all the distractions etc

Think I'll start a "Bare bore 2024" thread & everyone can post up their "no frills - bang - flops"

5k on a rifle is nothing if that what you enjoy, I have no problem spending what you're comfortable with on a rifle, fitted nice shot guns are crazy money and they are not used to shoot long range or mostly even birds, most are just range toys.

Personally, I would rather a small selection of really nice toys than lots of cheap rifles, but everyone is different.

Look how many 100k boats are sitting in garages doing 10hrs/yr. No one is telling them they should have a 12foot tiny.
