I know the part number says "IR" - but I don't see a control for it?
If its the same as the IR in my 2.5-17.5x its actually really good. Tiny red dot, surprisingly good for nighttime shooting.
Put the dot on the hare, pull the trigger.

I think gimp means it sucks for day-time illumination. I'm yet to look through one of the Sightrons. No one carries them in Canterbury that I know of..?

Not daylight visible. Daylight visible = measurably faster.

Seem to be pretty good reviews on the Bushnell Elite 1-6x24mm but not sure on availability here? Also the Vortex Strike Eagle looks promising but unsure of a release date...

Whats a good optic for around $800-$1500? Any advice is much appreciated.

    Sas.
    Iv had a few, most recent being a leupold 2.5 -8 Mr/t.
(I have put this on a M&P 10)... i thought it could be annoying only going down to 2.5 but after testing it back up back with a bunch of other options I think it's good.
Also when you go to nail things at 500 yards you are grateful for any extra mag you can get.

Another consideration is weight ... Some of those optics in the 1-5 range are as much as 25 oz !!!!

    Just my 2 c

It's a toss up between the Strike Eagle and the Bushnell Elite 1-6x for me, I'll wait to hear back from folks how the Strike Eagle performs. Hopefully it doesn't have a finicky eye box.

Superb optics had a chance to look through one when I was down south at Taieri Arms. Great edge to edge resolution
