Going to have a fair bit of muzzle flash at night time regardless of the combination you use to be fair, unless you sacrificed even more speed and went to a powder with a really fast burn rate but i doubt the OP is going to want to slow it down any further than it already will be with the 11" bbl.

2208 would be one of the better choices of powder to use.

You won't need to wait till nighttime with this setup. And yes i have tried a similar setup.

Also do not use it when there is a fire risk, the last thing we need is a hunter setting some public land on fire.

You will still be able to reach ~2000 fps with this setup and a heavier bullet which is plenty.

They are designed to expand at slightly lower velocities than the current 7-08 speed. That could work in your short barrel gun….
7mmwaters is the 7mm-30/30 I believe agree projectiles should be ideal...like using 30/30 ones in loaded down 308 for youth/low recoil no reason it couldnt be used in ANY 7mm for same purpose. pretty sure our man on tokoroa is doing a 120grn hp cast jobbie too.

    If you can.

Run the 162gr eld M if you can. I run 160gr TMK out of my 16" and have never had a issue with shit dropping on the spot. Bit of 2208 should do the trick.

Technically this configuration should work with good muzzle velocity and with little muzzle flash, if hand loaded sensibly.
Just had a really quick look at what could be done in GRT, and 2480fps in an 11" barrel is doable with Nosler 120gn BT projectile, and N135 powder. Pretty sure there are better options, but this is what 5 minutes of tinkering in GRT looks like.
Complete powder burn before projectile leaves the barrel.

take the "complete powder burn" with a grain of salt.

I have a similar setup, grt claims the same thing (quick load does not) and its a flamethrower.

Complete powder burn doesn't equal all stop on the flame front continuing to expand. The flame front is what we see as flash.

Indeed, but considerably less of a fireball than a factory 7mm08 load.

Got it's first kill Thursday night, shooting a 139gr Hornady whitetail at around 2300fps!! A good mate of mine is working up a load for it with a Hornady 120gr V-max and some 2208, hoping for 2550-2600fps

Have also fitted a Triggertech Special single stage, as the factory trigger had a break of 7.2 pounds!!

Be careful shooting bigger game with the vmax, probably be fine on a smallerbfallow in the right spot but would be cautious shooting bucks, reds or sambar

Nice setup, would it still be 'legal' if you used a folding or collapsible buttstock?

Would be too short unfortunately. I'm not sure, but I do think think they would buy "I promise I never fold it short"
