From the website would be $330 (if they still shipped), so how does $220 sound?

    @dannyb I have a Marlin 917VR, all I can say is it’s a tack driver.
    My model was the series before they released the accu trigger XT models.
    Really fun to shoot, have not suppressed it because I love the boom it makes.
    I use the 17gr, devastating effect.
    All I can say is put good glass on a .17HMR it will allow you to reach with style.

    Marlin 917..? Sport barrel. I’ll check it and change if it’s different.

    Well finally got out to test my new Marlin 917 and I'm pleased with the results the below pic shows 2 sighting rounds and then a 5 shot group.
    I did shoot a better group but I accidentally left that target taped to the post damn it
    Anyway not bad for a $400 setup with a heavy ass trigger.
    Will look at the trigger when I put it in the new Boyds stock hopefully sometime next week.

    @dannyb well done.
    I ended up getting a M-carbo spring kit from the states for both my marlins.
    Was a lot better than the ford escort spring that came with the rifle.
    However with the stupid restrictions now in place I’m not sure it would get through customs.

    There are other options to try for the spring, will see what is what when I put it in the new stock.

    They are very good buying at $650 new for a wood / blued version at shooters world Gore.
    The one weird great thing about them is they shoot best dirty, mine will do 400 rounds plus and is a tack driver.

    I have had a Savage and it was shit, in fairness I think it was a lemon but never realised just how bad it was till I got the Marlin.
    I have also used a Ruger American for a week and 600 odd rounds. Better than the Savage but not up to my Marlin.

    Just my experience and opinion, CZ is nice also but for the volume of shooting I do the Marlin has proven to be a great rifle.
    Yep Savage was no good..

    Yup got the better of me, I have done this mod now and the trigger pull feels much better, mere ounces instead of pounds.
    It's never gonna be timmeny good but it's a vast improvement.

    Yeap, From memory I shimmed the hole with a little bit of nail, Cant remember why or which hole but it did help haha. They are a crisp enough trigger just on the heavy side

    I know which hole you mean, I didn't do it. Does it make a difference to the trigger pull ?

    Yeah made it a shade lighter. Mine was pretty heavy still though went from 9 to 5 lbs so if you already have a decent weight I wouldn't bother.

    Miss that wee gun might have to buy another
