Is there a 17 HMR semi worth buying or stay with a bolt. Have a very large hare problem to sort, centrefire too noisy.

There is very little choice of brands but work mate as a savage A17 semi-auto and loves it. Never tried it my self. I can't report anymore than that on semi-auto .17HMRs. A bolt action with a few spare mags might be helpful

I’d stick with a bolt personally, especially if noise is a factor. The A-17 definitely and I assume most other 17 semis are still bloody rowdy from the blowback action.
savage runs a delayed blowback but 17hmr is a damn high pressure round for a blowback semi.
Pretty sure the A-17 is the only semi left on the market due to this pressure issue.
I was loaned a Savage A17 for a while, it was a bastard jamming, mag would randomly drop out and inconsistent throwing the odd flyer.
Every manufacturer has a lemon & I think this was it!
I ended up buying a bolt action CZ .17 HMR & never looked back.
Thank you all for your input, had read online about the Savage, thought the grouping was excellent, but have to take more into account when suppressed.
Personally I'd go a suppressed bolt action. Plenty of folk using such a set up in Central Otago, including professional pest operators, those fellas shoot LOTS of bunnies.

suppressed 22 hornet or 17 hornet to loud???
@tetawa I have a supressed 17 hornet and 22-250 I can clear my schedule in the name of environmental sustainability and help you out?
@charliehorse, I have a suppressed 22 Hornet, 223, 222, these people with the problem have neighbors with guess what, horses. Before the problem became serious they all loved watching the dear little creatures hopping around, the love has now diminished.
