Thread: 22 Creedmoor rookie questions

Forgive my ignorance as I've never been down this track before, I've tried the search function but am only getting results for the 6.5 Creedmoor

I am wanting to have a .22 Creedmoor built on a Tikka action, what donor caliber should I be looking for to get the correct bolt face and magazine etc

Will be rebarreled as opposed to reamed if that makes any difference

Basically anything that isn't a Magnum/Short Magnum or 222, 223, or 204 Ruger.
Anything based on the 308 case (243, 260, 7mm08, 308, 338federal), 6.5CM case (6.5CM, 6CM), 30-06 case ( 25-06, 270, 280, 30-06), 6.5x55 or 22-250.

I'd imagine the more popular cartridges 6.5CM, 243, 7mm08, 308 might allow you to on sell the barrel and get a bit of money back.

Or just get a fast twist 22 250

Take a 22.250 to the range and notice the fkn loud sonic boom, that should put up off that idea, other than that kiss your hearing goodby

Am guessing he is rebarreling to 22 creedmoor to shoot heavy for cal projectiles (assume 1 in 7 twist)
No point in going 22/250 which he would have to ackly improve to get the same performance.

I have something that is basically a 22 creed and I'd say it's no worse than my 270
