Mine was at best erratic , with its grouping ( like a small shotgun ) , it really was terrible , I loved the rifle , just could not accept the way it shot , ie poorly , it was a CZ611 , and looked stunning , but it shoot like sh&% .
Later Chris
This was BEFORE the internet , and the groups where at best double what a average 22lr rifle would do , it was like it had a wondering zero like a No5 Jungle carbine .
That's really a dud rifle rather than any particular flaw with the cartridge
The 22mag has never had a rep as being a particularly accurate calibre , reguardless of the rifle , it seems the actual ammo is not that flash as well .
my dads .22mag is older then me and would put 10 shots into a 10 cent piece. Its either you or the gun/ammo
VIVA LA HOWA
And I bet he did just before you were born!
Boom, cough,cough,cough
My Savage 22mag (basic mod 93G not the heavy barrel version) shot sub-inch at 100m most of the time with a variety of ammo - Winchester, Fiocchi, Hornady all did pretty well.
The young feller wanted to shoot some targets with his 22LR so just for fun shot a few groups with my 22 mags using Hornady VMAX. The semi-auto shot some nice 8mm 3 shot groups at 50m and the bolt action a touch tighter. A 10 shot group at 50m with the bolt action spread to 13mm. I am not that flash a rifle shot so I am definitely the limiting factor not the rifle or ammo ...
I have a second hand 22mag marlin bolt action with a good varipower scope on it. Great on goats close in. Pretty impressive on the range as well.cheap to run and quiet in the scrub. Never mind the .17 bullet to lite unless you only shoot rabbits etc.
