    I purchased one of the 1st Ruger 'All American' Compact .223's when they arrived in NZ. Extremely accurate with a Konus 3-12x44 scope and bespoke Gunworks suppressor. Definitely not heavy (haven't weighed it) but have carried it for hours with no problems. Have had no issues with the 'Plastic' stock - Worth a look I think and at a good price.

    Went from a howa 1500 7mo8
    To a Ruger ranch got a dpt on it
    223. Love it zappy as

    Other lighter weights are the Zastava M85 and Savage Lightweight Hunter.

    The lightest .223 would have to be the CZ

    Which model? The 527 Carbine is about the same as the Ruger (and twice the price).

    Howa excel chassis had a play with one at work and they are great, adjustable stock etc light as only around $400 and pretty lightweight
