[QUOTE=Nick-D;755276]Most brands make an entry level rifle that comes in around that price. Nzar15 has them from about 1400 usually, although the next lot may be a bit dearer with the exchange rate.

Yeah a standard ar15 from a reputable brand is probably not going to be as accurate as a tikka but for 99% of hunting/practical use with the 223 it ain't going to make much of a difference.

nzar15 stocks are just about all gone and with the police putting a stop at this time of imports of guns and parts, who knows if any more will be imported. ontarget in howick has a few left Andersons at $1600 plus a few gunshops have limited supply. Watch the prices increase over next few months as they dry up.

Get a CZ 527. Great little mini mauser action and it shoots thumbnail sized groups without too much effort at all.

The CZs are a nice rifle. Quite pretty.
The Tikka would make a good "trainer" rifle being the same as your .308

I had a CZ like those and it was a prick of a rifle
shot like a dream looked fantastic and was light as a feather
downsides were short magizine internal length, single stack mag the loved to stab me in the back when slung, rifle rings had to be miles high to clear eye box on scope
it was basically in perfect condition too so too nice to butcher with either a can or hard use
depends how you use rifles, basically Stainless/Synthetic is my go-to now
still adore my old 601 brno but thats an old dog thats had probably 50 years of hard use

Tikkas are hard to beat weight wise, it is odd to have that long an action with a tiny bullet

Being that you already have a Tikka I would get another in.223.
Which is what I've doe a T3 in .223 and a T3 in 7mmsaum so easy when you are using the one rifle brand.

Having said all this, its now time for you to think about reloading.... Just kidding. But do save your empty cases. Either you or somebody else will want them to reload later on.

The czs are beautifully made rifles, I used to own an original brno zkk in 223. The only thing that annoyed me was the bloody single stack magazine that made carrying akward, now I have a Yugoslavia made

Friend did that with savages, more than once he took the 270 and 223 bolt out for a hunt, after that he started storing them with the bolts in.

    For a 223.

For the most fun you can have with your pants on- can only be a AR15. Change out the upper to a 6.5 grendel or 300 Blackout or even a 22lr upper.

Versatility by definition and heaps of fun. You WONT regret buying a AR and yes they are accurate too

Yup I did that fired .223 with the 7mmsaum bolt and wondered why it wouldn't eject.

Yeah they have complete rifles for now. Best to build your own though. Better bits and less of what you don't want.

I can sort of relate to that. Spent a while at the range trying to get the bolt in my Savage 243. After a minute or two of playing with the bolt face I twigged that it was the leftie 243 bolt from TimeRiders Savage.
