22lr light striking after trigger spring upgrade

    Hi all,

I have a near new Hammerli tac a1 22lr semi auto.

I installed the light trigger spring upgrade kit, purchased from GC.
Rifle was excellent before that procedure, but I just wanted a lighter trigger.

However, now on a full mag, 9 out of 10 rounds misfire, likely due to a light strike?
When reloaded into the mag and fired again, most will fire after 1 to 2 strikes. Very frustrating.

Note: I am yet to replace the light spring set with the original 3 springs to see if that sorts it out.

Range is over an hour drive away, so asking here before I go to the range to experiment and take apart the exploding box of tiny springs which is the Hammerli trigger group.

Is there a way to keep a light trigger pull and still have a functioning rifle?

Can I replace just the original hammer spring to make stronger contact with firing pin, leaving the 2 light trigger springs in place? I imagine they are all balanced together, and not to be mix n matched?

    Thanks in advance,
    Len

I would be taking the lightened spring kit back to GC and asking them. The hammer strike required for rim fires is actually quite substantial, I would have thought if the kit needs a lighter hammer spring (as with most AR spring kits) then in would not work as well.

As far as I'm aware the Hammerli and Walther/Umarex rifles have trigger groups that are not to be fiddled with. Yes they're heavy from the factory. But the manufacturer specifically says not to alter the trigger group in anyway.

In my opinion GC have gone against the manufacturers recommendation and voided the original warranty. That's not to say GC won't give you a warranty though.

AR22 style triggers are heavy for a reason.
Unless your rifle is compatible with a Hiperfire style trigger with enhanced hammer fall, just leave as is.

I don't know the Hammerli actionsetup, but can you use some new trigger springs but retain the old heavier hammer spring?

Yes, CCI ammo was by far the worst for rate of misfires, but other brands were still unreliable, too.
