    270Win or 270WSM on a T3 lite?

    Hi all,
A friend of mine is planning on getting a Tikka T3 Lite for Hunting and wants some feedback on which 270 round to choose?
    Expected range would be 200~400m.
    Use is for Hunting.

Currently he uses a good old 100% trusty Remington 788 in 308win!

...also any advice on what scope would suit this round & rifle.
His old Remington has had a Burris 3-9x40 which again has been perfect its whole life, so was looking at them, such as the "Burris Veracity 2-10x42mm or 50mm version..."

His total budget is ~$2k. (Subject to his wife's permission).
    Any advice welcome.
    Many thanks Grant.

If only going to 400ish stick with the 270win. Heaps cheaper to buy factory ammo, less recoil etc.

As above, no point in WSM for 400m. Ammo is bloody expensive for WSM

I have a vortex 4x16x44 HS up for grabs if interested. Great out to 600+. If hes sold on 270 I'd suggest the wsm, he will get the bug so might as well future proof

Why? Who would you make fun of if we were all pussies and owned 6.5 sparrow guns?

thanks guys, I had a surf, and let him know your comments... I see the WSM seems to have another 200~250fps over the 270win...
Odd looking case with the WSM, its on steroids...

Been there done that. Buy a 308 for gods sake. Had both and gave them both shit . Reloaded for both target shot for both etc.
Shot lot of animals with both. This was like over a 8 yr period. Love the fast WSM . Love the 308 more 125 Norma's screaming out of a 308 have killed more animals for me than any 270. Mind you they teach how to track animals . PS have few WSM bits if you insist on persuing this lunacy ha ha .

I've got both 270's. The 270 sends 130sst Hornady factory loads at 3120fpt over the crono av of 10 passes. The WSM sends 140sst's (hand loads) at 3150. The 270 is suppressed and WSM isn't. The WSM is quite exciting to shoot!

The rifle is not for me, but a mate who has been hunting for many years with his trusty 308... but wants a different new toy...

If it is only for out to 400 I'd stick with the standard .270. I have shot plenty of deer over 400 and even out past 500 without any hassles.
As for the scope a 3-9 would be suffice but it is nice to have that little extra if need be.

I just picked up a burris c4 270 scope from overseas. Has a specific 270 range dial for a bit of fun. Glass is pretty decent. Less than 150 usd.
