@Blackmac possibly it insnt chambered in a t/c encore or.also possible the recoil in such a light system is starting to get a bit much.
Only guessing though
He might also have shit loads of 3006 stuff or maybe just wants to have a play with one

In my 28" 308 Encore, it got 180's up to 2700 with 43.5gr of 2208 and that wasn't a max load. Once lockdown is over, I'm going to give Belmont 763 a go. It should reach 2800 easily.
Depending on what kinda performance you're after, you might not need to have it reamed out because that long tube really gets them zipping along.
The only Encore available at other than Gun City or J B Furly prices (= ripoff) was in 308. I was thinking of going 30-06 AI (or 280 AI if the only barrel I could get was a 7mm - basically taking an '08 case and running an improved reamer into it).
However a bit of scenario checking on Quickload and QuickTarget shows that the gains in velocity and energy are pretty minimal out to the ranges I shoot game. I'm thinking it'll stay a 308 and run something like the Federal Edge TLR's, in a single shot (no mag length restriction, long barrel) and a bit of careful powder selection I'm thinking I'll get the 175 TLR going at 2800 fps - plenty of WHOMP still at 500M.
Got my Savage 30-06 running an accurate load with 200gr eldx at 2650ft/s with Superformance powder. 22 inch barrel though .
