    300 wsm xbolt deal.

I see gun city have a deal this week on browning xbolts in 300wsm at only $1099. Pretty cheap, tempted. Never owned an xbolt, anyone got them in magnum calibers? How do the they shoot ect? Iv heard triggers not great? Cheers

The Hells Canyons I've shot in 7mm Rem Meg and 300 Win Mag were both surprisingly accurate. The trigger is an acquired taste. It's not heavy. It just takes some getting used to.

I have bought one for mate to set up for longrange in hells canyon.
    A 300prc.
It's reasonably light, and reasonably put together.
I bought it as it was a one of deal through Giles in Taihape for$1400.
The trigger wasn't that good so got a spring from aussie and that made it bearable.
Probably the biggest problem is getting it consistently showing well.
Would I do it again, No
I just wish Tikka would do one, problem solved.

Have had 2. They do need the trigger spring replaced but that is simple. Otherwise both have been very accurate and I can’t fault them. Good mag. Feed well. Firm half cock (I never use that). You can’t get carbon stocks for them. Current one is 270wsm and it’s great.

That is a very good price if that's what you're after.

What's the brass situation for 300 WSM these days?

And can anyone comment on the chambering for seating long bullets farther out than SAAMI COAL?

    Hmmm.

I’ve always been very attracted to this cartridge but I’ve just run the numbers again in Quickload to remind myself of how much it would cost for a relatively marginal improvement per 10m of range, on the odd occasion I would genuinely need to use it!

Ive got a browning x bolt stainless composite stalker in .270. Been good rifle. Light, so a bit of recoil.

It knocks them over though. I havent done anything to it apart from use it and clean it.

Both Sika and Reds have fallen to it

a good mate had an A bolt...300 wsm from memory that was the model before the X bolt ? Either way it had a hard life and never let him down....i loved my Tikka WSM but wouldn't have been too worried if i ended up with his Browning...go for it !
