Another candidate is the 458x1,5" from a belted case as suggested above.
Twist of 1in 14" should be a minimum, I went with a 1 in 13" and it works well.

Just buy a ruger 77/44 if you Really want a brick cartridge in a bolt gun for some reason
Gone that route before. The barrel is a 1 in 20" and you don't get the best accuracy with the heavy pills ( we are talking groups into a lemon at 100 m, at least).

I loaded some 458 for a guy a while ago. Took forever to get brass etc
KG and I were talking about this a couple months ago, 45 pistol cal rather than 458 rifle is the way to go IMO
At least you can by 450BM components easily
I got my brass through Arthur Cleland but you could get it from reladerinternational.
I went with the 458 because of the choice of higher weight bullets and because the case has a shoulder and would be producing potentially a higher accuracy round. You could shoot heavier bullets with the 450 if you were casting your own, but you would need the appropriate barrel twist to stabilise them. Also the 450 bushmaster was never designed as a subsonic round initially ( which does not mean it can't be:-) more another heavy hitting round in AR.
I'm building bolt action 450 Bushmasters, using a fast twist barrel, with the main goal being subsonic lightweight bush rifles.
Using pistol instead of rifle bullets should make them extremely effective in this role.
They will also be very interesting supersonic

Indeed, that would be interested.

I am after a 450 Bushmaster AR bolt if anyone knows anywhere to get one from or has one they would be willing to part with.
