Get the swede.
VIVA LA HOWA
yeah, I got 6.5's in x55 and a x284. .. goes bang and kills stuff.
some may say the 260 because of the amount of available brass that can be necked down, but 6.5x55 has pretty cheap lapua brass probably only matched by the 308 and 7.62/39
both the t3 and howas are decent rifles id happily own either if they were given to me again.
i have a t3 in the x55
f^&king love it, its light enough, doesnt mind scratches
i dont buy ammo for it tho i reload my own , 140 amaxs doing around 2700 from memory
have killed things from 1m to 1004 yards
I have the howa 1500 in 6.5x55. The Hogue overmold stock is pretty average - very soft foreend. Other than that no complaints.
I've got the savage 16, although the slightly older version without the aluminium bedding block, and in 7mm08, but I really enjoy using it. Very nice and light, great trigger. Nice and accurate with handloads. Even with the more flexible older stock that I have - because it's free floated it doesn't cause any inconsistencies or issues.
3-stage tang safety is a big positive for me, too.
6.5's are just plain nice.
Ive owned a 6.5x55 tikka for years. It's by far the most boring gun I have ever owned BUT I have owned it for the longest out of all my firearms... The reason is all the deer I've shot just fall over on the spot.
I reload for her which makes it cheap to feed and allows a 140gn amax and corelokt load @2750fps with almost identical poi at 100m.
Unless you are shooting 700m+ or want to sink battleship's then its the last gun you will need to hunt deer when paired with a top quality scope.
It really is a fantastic cartridge.
I have a 6.5x55 swede that am willing to part with.
Comes with BSA Scope 4 - 12 x 40 and 1&1/2 box of 140g High Lands Ammo
Only $550
