If factory ammo is a high priority, I wouldn't be getting a .260. It's pretty bloody expensive and not very common as you know.
If you want factory ammo is some flavour of 6.5, 6.5x55 would be my vote.

There are 2 main contenders for factory Creedmoors in a hunting rifle that I can think of at the moment and that is the HOWA Alpine Rifle or the new Kimber Hunter Rifle. I wonder which one would shoot better?......................

Before anyone goes and spends $ on a 6.5 CR. check each rifles box mag length, some have bugger all room to seat out the projectiles, others have plenty,,,,, if there's no spare length you may limit powder capacity/velocity/accuracy with 140 or 142 gr projs....... Thereby making the whole point of the cartridge less effective(in that rifle) . 284 and 6.5x 284 suffer similar problems= manufacturers chambering the rounds in med actions, when they require more length to make use of their design requirements.

Think my 140's were doing around 2680 ft/s avg and 123's 2740ish ? Off a shit Caldwell crony. Didnt bother cronying much, keen to get a magnetospeed then not such a hassle.
Is yours a Ruger precision? Couple more inches of barrel length..+40 fps. I was a little disappointed in speed a little, but that's where it's sweet spot is. both loads had another at a much lower charge which is a good load for practice at 100m from practical shooting positions

Yes it is precision rifle... my rifle when new was shooting slower but now with 500+ rounds is great, I just shot a 1300yards target early today... pretty stoked!
