Know a guy who now owns one of these, very rare rifle and lots of 000s on the first couple of figures, what a beast, had a cartridge in my hand the other day, ouchName: IMG_3816.jpeg

Military use? I could look it up, but prefer to imagine Rourke's drift but elephants instead of zulus

And .950JDJ, which i think was made just for engineering cred. 2500 grains is about one third of an pound.

Of course the list wouldn't be complete without 20mm Vulcan

They would pay the cost of ammo, and you wouldn’t want salt and fat on this investment

Their Martini’s were so hot they self fired, I wonder how many lined up men this would kill before it stopped, the 577/450 did 12-1/2

I like the way the above measurements are converted to millimeters

funny you say that DOC had one made up years ago - saw it at the DOC shoot ohh must be 15 years ago - bloody huge thing - dont quote me but I understand it was based on a Russian anti aircraft round - single shot - think Barrett but bigger - designed to be fired from the hip i.e no buttstock just massive hand grips - I wonder what ever happened to it - DOC bugger who had it made up was rather proud of it - doubt it was ever fire in anger

I had heard that this had gone up your way from down my way.

I believe the guy was a .600 fan and has everything except the rifle.

I hope now that he has the complete set up that it is all he had hoped for and that he gets to use it in anger.

While I would love to see it in the flesh and would gladly watch someone else fire it ( from a distance).
I am certainly not keen to fire one myself .
I have quite a number of big bore Black Powder Express rifles and even those can test the limit of my recoil tollerence

Someone might want to compare the recoil energy and velocity of the .600 NE with the lesser .500 BPE
I expect the 600 will be 5x as much
