    7 round mag for SKS

Anyone know if it is legal to get a 10 round detachable mag and modify it so it only takes 7? Or shall I just get a gunsmith to do some work? Cheers guys

I was of the understanding that as long as the mods did not allow it to be changed back then ok to do yourself

It's legit, no need to involve a gunsmith.

Note that you can't do the same with a 20 or 30 shot mag(not a issue for a sks I know but just making sure no one gets confused)

Or, I have a e cat sks that has a 7 round mag fitted that I would swap for your ten round mag-I would even pay postage both ways. Pm me if interested

If you're importing the 10 round mag then you need to get a permit for it before it arrives, as they are regarded as an E-cat part.

Who said it was being used for hunting?
All he wrote that he had $400 and had only seen a Mosin Nagant or an SKS.
Nothing wrong with using either for plinking at the range.

Wooooowww, aren't you a lively one.

He's chosen the rifle (for good or bad, its his choice), so instead of posting and bitching about it, why don't you offer to take him out and get some first hand experience at the range (before going bush) and show him the limitations of the 7.62x39 round and the SKS for accuracy and how hunting with a semi requires far more attention to safety.

I'm sure you will extend that help.
    Yeah right , whatever...

The yeah right was more addressed to you actually.
Yes, you are right it is his choice good or bad. He is a 20 years old young lad , I can understand his lack of funds and his not so wisest choices, I have been in his shoes at his age and done similar mistakes.
I ll be very happy to help him like many other will do on this forum once he realised that his acquisition might not be up to the task of cleanly and humanly harvesting game, as it seems that was his intention on his first post.If he want to travel to Hamilton ,I ll be happy to take him to the range and in the bush, but he can leave his sks behind, I will have more appropriate tools for the task to lend him, unless youare willing to offer to lend him one of your rifles?

If you want evidence I back up my comments, I'm happy to post links of me taking away newbies on hunts, to the range to get experience and to farms from both this website and FishnHunt.

    Let me know.
