This was my favourite 708 of the three I have owned. An absolute laser. Just too dammed heavy.

They are beautiful looking rifles and faultless to shoot. Its just the weight of them and I didnt like scratching it up in the scrub. Was forever out with the linseed oil .

The current go to is just so easy to maintain. Spray and wipe ! Drop the stock out every now and then to remove the forest -job done

It went to another forum member from Taihape I think

Someone stateside said the "difference between the 308 and 7mm08 is the 162 Amax", the other difference is probably the 120 grain BT. Its amazing the power of marketing, there is something in me that turns its nose up at the 7mm08 now, while the 308 seems more attractive, irrational really.

Ive always driven the a max harder with either a 7mmremmag or a 7mmrum . Faster is better with them I reckon. But back to the 7mm08 ive only ever loaded 140gn BT's and they sure knock them over . Red stags , Bull Tahr no problem . Big holes and big wound channels . Im going to try some barnes triple shock 120gns this summer . Id imagine going on my experience with the 140's the 120's would be equally effective if not better ?

All of my spare gear on a visitor and my 18"Sako A7. Its a perfect set up for a newbie. He shot that with a 140 SST at 200 yards.
