    If its laminate stock then it'd be a late war kriegs model. The early ones were normal stocks.

    Is it full wood? Put some pics up.

    There's also a video on forgotten weapons YouTube channel about the different designs that the k 98 went through.

    most likely a post war build from NOS parts left over in the factories thousands were pumped out as there was a demand worldwide and it also provided a boost for economies trying to recover after 5 years of war and 10 years of depression. the stampings on the receiver would give a ballpark guess as to where and when it was assembled . being that he bought it in 1960 it could have technically been new (never used) even tho the parts were maybe 15 years old .

    That forgotten weapon vid is great, this overall gun looks like the midwar version ?
    Should have watched that before checking out the gun
    Has a 4 above the chamber, but appears to have late pd barrel band & early pd nose cap
