Of late it seems that hunting and firearm saftey is viewed by the general public as bad enough without throwing pistols into the mix.
Your not likely to see the relaxing of rules, regulations and movements of pistols any time soon, and for good reason.
Deerstalking with scoped pistols? What a load of bullshit, move aside long range hunting, we have a new contender!
Yup, I'm afraid that you're going to have to accept that your cap gun will only be going BANG at the range, when big brother lets you.
I'd rather try and change attitudes than pander to current ones
Same. I've never talked to anyone that shoots deer with a 357 cal in the US to be honest
30 would be the cal I would have thought to be king ?
Quote your source please. There are handguns available in calibres suitable for hunting other than .357 magnum, and the longer length of the handgun season (source? It's different in every state) doesn't necessarily lead to more hunters hunting then, or more deer shot.
I thought the mericans liked 30-30's

Sensitive types you pistol owners..we live in NZ not the US..Thank goodness.
Don't try and push your pro pistol hunting debate shit on me, I didn't make the rules.
I just agree with them
I would have thought Handgun Hunters in the US would Favour .44mag over the .357mag as most of the Hunting Handguns are more commonly chambered for .44mag and to the uninitiated .357 mag may sound deadly but the simple fact is in a Handgun its not and would be marginal to use on deer at handgun ranges.
So in saying this .... I believe The Handguns chambered in .44mag take more Deer than any other Handgun calibre in the US.
And before you ask I plucked this stat straight out of my arse.
Basically I think it's a bogus stat as:
1) Handgun hunting isn't as popular as rifle hunting (see this thread for example!)
2) Seasons vary between states, so the justification for it is bogus (some states don't even have a handgun season)
3) I doubt that .357 mag would be the most popular handgun hunting cartridge
4) It's absolutely unverifiable, unless there is a database somewhere of all deer shot in the US, listing details including the calibre they were shot with.
5) Some states require more paperwork for hunting with a pistol than a rifle - Texas for example requires a CCW permit to hunt with a handgun
I'd be interested to see the article, given that a cursory google doesn't turn it up.
Both IMO..
I have no reason to believe you made it up, but the author of the article probably did, like I say, I'd like to see it
But it's the internet, everyone posts the truth
