I'm currently in the states and thinking about bringing a nightforce scope back with me when I return as it will save me around $800. Anyone done this before with a similar scope? It will be in checked baggage. Any issues on either end of customs?

We can now get them in NZ
At very good prices, no more getting fisted.

FYI your bag will be opened by TSA. If you lock your bag, your lock will be broken/cut/opened and a nice pamphlet left inside. And that's the start of your . . . challenges. And no, your travel insurance wouldn't cover any travel delays if you ended up missing your flight.
Mind you, if you're happy to pay the appropriate duty on it on arrival, and you want to go through the hassle of that, prob easier just to purchase in NZ, and deal with the consequences that comes with that.
Agree with Beaker. Anyone had dealings with the guy? I think the photo on the auction is of an ATACR, not the NXS which is advertised. Bit misleading. I know a few people have been duped with fake Leupold's online so i'm a bit wary of buying from untrusted sellers. But if they are legit then that is a better price than here in the USA which is great to see.
Got a Bushnell LRHS off them, saved $940 compared to buying NZ based 1 off Trade Me and it arrived within a week. Definitely be buying from them again if I can't get a fair price from the local guys
If it's not a first round hit you need to practice more
Or how about from aussie? I got one in last week and saved $1000 on DED price and that's after paying gst.
i went to the states about a year ago and bought back a zeiss scope, range finders, dies, binos etc etc. i came via australia so i declared everything i had and the aussie customs wanted to take the scope from me because it was classes as a firearm part and give it back on my departure, which i managed to avoid. once i got to nz we declared our things as usual then was charged tax on all our bits over $700(i think?). but apart from the extra cost there was no issues.
