    Iv not flutted a bolt but both my rifles came with flutted bolts how much it cost would be my deciding factor if it was reasonable id certainly do it

    Tikka had both barrel and bolt fluted but I really wanted it for the 1-8 twist barrel
    Both shot like demons but the Tikka slightly more so

    It was toyed with on sniper / tactical rifles a couple of decades or so ago. The thinking was apparently that mud and ice in/on the action could escape and not get stuck in the action or cause it to bind up. The theory sort of makes sense, but I'm on the fence as to whether it serves any real function. It can look pretty cool on the right rifle though.

    @mikee - that Tikka looks like the rifle equivalent of a plane with counter-rotating props!

    Trueflight, They did all the work (before I brought it), I think it was one of their "spec" guns they build from time to time.
